A message from coach

In 2022, Columbus High School Men's Soccer became the first team in Columbus to complete an undefeated regular season. The Blue Devils were crowned Region 2-AAAA Champions and went 18-1-1 overall. In the GHSA State Tournament, they reached the Semifinal match where they would fall to the eventual champions in a close contest. The Blue Devils finished the season having scored a total of 112 goals and only conceding 11.
The Blue Devils were ranked #6 in MaxPreps National Rankings; the highest ranking ever achieved in program history. Columbus Men's Soccer was also ranked #1 in 4A for over 8 weeks, and reached a program high ranking of #3 in all classifications.
Five Blue Devils were named 1st Team All-Region, four were named 2nd Team All-Region, and four were Honorable Mentions. Columbus High Blue Devils were also named Coach of the Year (Coach Torres), Goalkeeper of the Year (Ryan Collins), Defender of the Year (Jace Cecalupo), and Overall Player of the Year (Dante Johnson) for Region 2-AAAA.
In 2021, Columbus High School reached the Elite 8 of the GHSA 4-AAAA State Tournament, out-scoring region opponents by a 56-2 margin.
Columbus High School has established itself as the top soccer school in Columbus and surrounding areas with an overall record of 51-4 against local schools, including St. Anne Pacelli, Northside, Brookstone, LaGrange, Harris County, and Auburn, since 2016.
Since 2016, Columbus High School has established itself as a powerhouse and the team to beat in region play. Columbus soccer has been crowned region champion in four of the last seven seasons, and runner-up in two other seasons*. During those seven seasons, our Blue Devils have earned a region record of 45-2, and have netted a total of 311 goals, conceding only 25.

Historically, Columbus High School players have consistently been recognized at the local, state, and national levels. Since 2016, Columbus High School players have received 16 local individual awards, including All-Bi-City and All-Region Player of the Year Awards, and 23 players have been named to Region and All-Bi-City 1st teams. In 2021, two Columbus High School players were named to the 4-AAAA All-State team.
Since it’s inaugural event in 2019, 9 Blue Devils have been named Southeast All-Americans and have played in the Southeast All-American Showcase featuring players from across the nation. In 2019, Columbus High School Men’s Soccer was a recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, an award received by only 112 teams in the country.
2021 also saw our captain, Carl Owen, receive a full ride scholarship to play soccer at Division 1 University of Arkansas.
